Left boat via bus for a city Art tour. First stop National Art Gallery. Very excited to view original of Edward Munch' s paintings the 'Scream' one of the must sees on Art archives. Our very informative guide gave us an overview of various other Norwegian painters and theirs work mostly depicting the Norwegian way of life over time. From there we headed through the city where the architecture was prominent to Vigeland Park. Here we saw the most amazing display of sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron, all done by the one man, Vigeland mostly showing the human form at various stage a of life from infant to old age engaged in everyday activity. They were very controversial in his day apparently. Beautiful parklike settings. From there we headed uphill to the highest ski jump in the world, quite spectacular but even better were the views over the city and beyond. The entrance to Oslo is through the fiords, quite surprising to us as the land around them is flat where we are used to mountains rising from the sea.
